Raid 2 (2025) – Full Movie Review | Intense, Gritty & Ruthless

Raid 2 movie review poster landscape
Ajay Devgn is back in his most fearless avatar as IRS officer Amay Patnaik in Raid 2 the explosive sequel to the 2018 blockbuster. Directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, this second installment is darker, bolder, and more emotionally driven. But does it live up to the legacy of the first? Let's dive deep.

📖 Storyline (Spoiler Alert!)

Set a few years after the events of the original film, Raid 2 follows Amay Patnaik as he’s transferred to Mumbai to investigate a network of black money trail involving politicians, corporate giants, and even international connections. This time, the raid isn't confined to a single house — it’s a full-blown war across states, departments, and dangerous players.

The movie opens with a powerful scene showing a whistleblower's mysterious death, setting the tone for a gritty cat-and-mouse game. As Amay digs deeper, he faces resistance not just from the outside world, but from within the system itself. In classic Raj Kumar Gupta style, the screenplay moves sharply, blending investigative drama with emotional backstory, especially around Amay’s personal sacrifices.

The twist? One of the most trusted figures in Amay’s team is compromised — leading to a betrayal that flips the narrative in the second half.

🎭 Performances

Ajay Devgn delivers a rock-solid performance as expected. His quiet rage, intense monologues, and confrontational scenes are the soul of the film. Ileana D'Cruz as his wife gets slightly more screen time this time around, adding emotional weight.

Rajesh Sharma and Saurabh Shukla play their parts well, while the villain character (played by Ravi Kishan) is both slick and menacing — a step up from the first film's antagonist.

🎬 Direction & Screenplay

Raj Kumar Gupta balances patriotism with realism. The courtroom scenes, interrogation sequences, and raid montages are brilliantly directed. The pace slightly dips in the second act, but the final 25 minutes are edge-of-the-seat stuff.

The dialogues are sharp, especially in the confrontation scenes: “Insaan ke kaam uska pehchaan hote hain, kursi nahi” hits hard!

🎵 Music & Background Score

The background score by Amit Trivedi adds tension and grit, while the soundtrack is minimal but meaningful. The theme track “Satya Ki Jung” plays during the final raid and fits perfectly.

Comparison with Raid (2018)

While Raid (2018) had the freshness of a tight, single-location thriller, Raid 2 expands the universe. It’s more complex, has higher stakes, and broader scope — which some may love, others might find slightly overdone.

Final Verdict

Raid 2 is a strong sequel — it packs suspense, emotion, betrayal, and action in a tight 2.5-hour package. Ajay Devgn fans will not be disappointed, and lovers of intelligent thrillers will appreciate the layered narrative.

It’s not flawless, but it’s fearless.
